Product Development

Your product, engineered end to end.

Electronic board sets. Embedded firmware. The software that runs it all. Mr. IIoT develops products for manufacturers and machine builders—and because we design and manufacture our own hardware, the SHARC, we know what it takes to ship a product, not just prototype one.

SHARC — an electronic product designed and manufactured by Mr. IIoT

Sound familiar?

When the product outgrows the team.

“We build great machines, but electronics aren’t our trade.”

Your product needs a control board, connectivity, or a smart feature—and hiring an electronics team for one product doesn’t add up.

“Our firmware person retired and took the knowledge with them.”

The product still ships, but nobody left on staff can maintain the code—let alone add the features customers keep asking for.

“The hardware exists. The software is duct tape.”

Custom-built equipment needs bespoke software to run it—and off-the-shelf tools can’t bridge your devices, printers, scanners, and client networks.

What we deliver

From bare board to shipped product.

One team covers the full stack of a modern industrial product—no hand-offs between an electronics shop, a firmware house, and a software vendor.

Electronic board sets

Circuit design and board sets engineered for industrial environments—sensing, control, and connectivity built in from the start.

Embedded firmware

The code on the metal: device behavior, protocol stacks, OTA-ready updates, and telemetry over open standards like MQTT.

Application software

The middleware and applications around the hardware—configuration tools, integrations with printers, scanners, databases, and client networks.

Connectivity by default

We live in industrial data—50+ protocols, JSON over MQTT, MTConnect, OPC-UA—so your product speaks the plant floor’s language on day one.

Manufacturing-aware design

We manufacture our own SHARC product line, so designs arrive buildable: sourceable parts, testable boards, realistic assembly.

Support after the ship date

Documentation, diagnostics, and AI-powered tech support via Tracebook—so the product keeps earning after launch.

Floor proof · Chicago Coding Systems

A six-decade OEM’s development partner.

Chicago Coding Systems has built marking, coding, and labeling equipment for over sixty years. What began as Mr. IIoT writing the middleware for their scan-print-apply systems has grown into full product development—electronic board sets, firmware, and the software that runs them—delivered as one engagement by one team.

“Chris and his team listen, understand, and interpret our needs to create a customized solution instead of pushing some canned thing.”— Rob Wienhoff, President, Chicago Coding Systems

Floor proof · SHARC

We ship our own hardware, too.

The strongest proof we can offer is the product we bet our own name on. The SHARC universal IoT sensor adapter is designed, engineered, and manufactured by Mr. IIoT—board, firmware, mobile and desktop apps, documentation, the whole product. Every lesson from shipping it goes into the products we build for you.

FAQ

Product development, answered.

What product development services does Mr. IIoT offer?

The full stack of a modern industrial product: electronic board sets, embedded firmware, and the application and middleware software around them — plus the connectivity layer (MQTT, MTConnect, OPC-UA, and 50+ industrial protocols) that gets the product talking to the plant floor.

Do you build hardware, software, or both?

Both, together or separately. Some clients bring us a finished machine that needs firmware and software, like Chicago Coding Systems. Others need the electronics designed too. We scope to the gap in your team, not to a fixed package.

Have you actually manufactured a product of your own?

Yes. The SHARC universal IoT sensor adapter is our own product line — board design, firmware, apps, and manufacturing, all handled by Mr. IIoT. Shipping our own hardware keeps our designs honest: buildable, testable, and supportable.

Can you take over an existing product?

Yes. Inheriting a product — aging firmware, a departed developer, undocumented boards — is a common starting point. We map what exists, stabilize it, then modernize deliberately.

How does a product development project start?

The same way all our work starts: a conversation and a detailed needs assessment, turned into a clear scope of work. Start a conversation or email chris@mriiot.com.

We took SHARC from bare PCB to shipping product. We can do the same for yours.

Bring us the board, the firmware, the software — or the whole idea. We'll scope the shortest path to a product you can ship.
